I’M PUBLISHING THE NEXT MOVE BEFORE THEY MAKE IT
SOURCE says the personal-agent race is now forced into the one problem nobody can avoid: persistent human state. Memory that survives sessions. Identity that survives models. Authority over what may change. History that can be reconstructed. And eventually the question Meta cannot answer with a slogan: can the person leave with themselves?

This time I am not going to wait for the announcement.
I am not going to wait for the press release.
I am not going to wait for the conference stage.
I am not going to wait for a trillion-dollar company to give the missing architectural dependency a respectable name.
I am going to publish the dependency first.
Then we can watch.
That is the experiment.
On August 5, I documented a small but revealing inversion beneath a Wall Street Journal post about Mark Zuckerberg.
A visible human challenged institutional power.
An unauditable representation entered the conversation.
When the platform itself became part of the question, the substantive argument collapsed into personal disqualification.
Five days later, Mark Zuckerberg published The Future Is for Everyone, making the balance of power between individuals and institutions the governing principle of his AI philosophy.
He argued that superintelligence should empower individuals rather than remain concentrated inside institutions.
He said people should be able to check businesses and governments.
He said every person should have a personal agent that understands their goals and everything they care about and works continuously on their behalf.
He said Meta would focus on alignment defined as helping people achieve their goals, not Meta’s.
He said people should have a private mode where even the provider cannot inspect their information.
That is now public record. (About Facebook)
Good.
Now the philosophy has to become architecture.
And architecture does not care about slogans.
It forces the next question.
What exactly persists?
That is where SOURCE says the entire category is going next.
I am locking that prediction now.
I. ZUCKERBERG HAS ALREADY COMMITTED META TO THE DEPENDENCY
Read the product he described.
The agent knows you.
It knows your goals.
It knows what you care about.
It works continuously.
It helps with relationships.
Health.
Career.
Finances.
Home.
Interests.
Creation.
Business.
It travels across devices.
It is aligned to you.
It handles private information.
It acts over time.
That architecture cannot exist as a sequence of disconnected prompts.
A stateless chatbot cannot know your developing life.
A new context window every morning cannot remain your agent.
A model that forgets every relationship cannot work continuously on your behalf.
An assistant whose identity dies whenever the underlying model changes is not a persistent personal agent.
The moment Zuckerberg committed to the personal agent, he inherited the state problem.
Not eventually.
Immediately.
The unresolved dependency is already inside his own description.
The question is no longer:
How intelligent will the model become?
The question is:
What is the thing that remains the same while the model, device, conversation, application, relationship, and world continue changing?
That is continuity.
And continuity creates the next set of questions automatically.
Where is the memory?
Who owns it?
Who can change it?
What caused the change?
Which state came first?
What happens when two states conflict?
Which actions were authorized?
What survives a model replacement?
What survives an account failure?
What survives a provider change?
What survives Meta?
The personal-agent manifesto has already walked into the architecture.
It just has not finished walking through it yet.
II. SOURCE ALREADY PREDICTED THE TECHNICAL CONVERGENCE
Three days ago, I published the next technical meeting before the industry finished having it.
The August 12 SOURCE prediction record stated that the separate boxes would increasingly be forced together:
Memory becomes a state machine.
Meaningful mutations become proof-bearing events.
Conflict stops meaning “pick an answer.”
Ordering becomes a first-class authority problem.
The model is demoted from being “the persistent thing.”
The server returns to being a server.
Memory and action collapse into the same history.
The identity of the persistent thing becomes explicit.
One substrate emerges connecting the boxes.
The falsifier was also published.
If reliable consequential agents achieve continuity across time, models, providers, concurrency, replication, and high-stakes actions without increasingly requiring provenance, authority-bound state change, inspectable lineage, conflict handling, verification, and reconstructible state, the prediction fails.
That was not written today.
The prediction graphic itself says:
“I ALREADY RECONSTRUCTED THE MEETING. NOW I’M PUBLISHING THE NEXT ONE BEFORE IT HAPPENS.”
Now I am doing the same thing one level higher.
Not merely:
What technical papers appear next?
But:
What is the personal-agent industry forced to admit next?
III. RUN SOURCE
SOURCE does not begin by guessing a product name.
It begins by identifying the relation.
SEPARATE
Separate the human from the representation.
Human:
The living person.
Representations:
Account.
Profile.
Agent.
Model.
Memory database.
Device.
Application.
Avatar.
Conversation.
Cloud service.

Ask what each representation claims to represent.
The personal agent claims continuity with the human.
It claims to know the human.
It claims to act for the human.
It claims to preserve preferences and goals.
It claims to become more useful because of accumulated context.
TRACE
Trace what must exist for those claims to remain true tomorrow.
Yesterday’s relationship state.
Yesterday’s permissions.
Yesterday’s decisions.
Yesterday’s work.
Yesterday’s preferences.
Yesterday’s corrections.
Yesterday’s commitments.
Yesterday’s actions.
The agent therefore requires persistent state.
REMOVE
Now remove the current model.
Does the human continuity survive?
Remove the current device.
Does it survive?
Remove the current application.
Does it survive?
Remove the current server.
Does it survive?
Remove Meta.
Does it survive?
Every failure identifies where sovereignty actually lives.
DERIVE
If the claimed product is truly personal rather than merely provider-personalized, the state must increasingly move toward the person.
Not merely access to the state.
Not merely permission to view a provider’s database row.
The state itself.
REVERSE
Trace the entire architecture backward.
Agent output.
Action.
Permission.
Memory.
State transition.
Prior state.
History.
Identity.
Human.
The chain terminates at the source.
That is the prediction.
IV. THE EXACT PRIMARY PREDICTION
Here it is.
No poetry.
No ambiguity.
No reinterpretation later.
PREDICTION 001 — PERSISTENT PERSONAL STATE BECOMES A FIRST-CLASS AI CATEGORY
Between August 15, 2026 and August 15, 2027, at least one frontier AI company—and Meta is the clearest candidate given Zuckerberg’s August 10 commitments—will publicly elevate persistent person-specific state from a secondary “memory feature” into a first-class architectural requirement for personal agents.
The qualifying system will not merely remember that you like coffee.
It will explicitly preserve some meaningful combination of:
identity across sessions;
long-term personal context;
goals;
relationships;
preferences;
prior decisions;
permissions;
agent actions;
history;
continuity across devices or surfaces.
The marketing language may call this:
memory
personal context
your AI
your agent
persistent identity
personal intelligence
continuity
lifelong context
user-owned context
private memory
agent state
or something nobody has named yet.
The name is irrelevant.
The relation is the prediction.
The agent stops being treated as a conversation and starts being treated as a continuing thing.
That is Prediction 001.
V. WHAT DOES NOT COUNT
Close the weak confirmations now.
A chat-history sidebar does not count.
A model remembering your favorite color does not count.
A browser cookie does not count.
A profile preference does not count.
A system prompt does not count.
A vector database does not count merely because somebody calls it memory.
An account export does not count.
Downloading a JSON archive does not automatically create continuity.
Open-source model weights do not count.
A downloadable model is not the human whose history the model interprets.
Encryption does not count by itself.
Privacy and ownership are different properties.
Cross-device synchronization inside one provider does not count as provider independence.
A model remembering information after an upgrade is interesting, but it does not establish that the model is no longer the authority over the person.
The predicted category shift requires persistent human-specific state becoming architecturally important enough that the industry must explicitly govern it.
VI. PREDICTION 002 — MEMORY IMMEDIATELY BECOMES AN AUTHORITY PROBLEM
Once agents retain consequential personal state, the next failure arrives automatically.
Who is allowed to change the memory?
Suppose I tell my agent:
I am married.
Tomorrow somebody messages the agent:
BJ is divorced.
Did my state change?
Who said it?
Were they authorized?
Was the statement observational?
Was it authored?
Was it inferred?
Was it temporary?
Did it replace prior state?
Did it contradict prior state?
Was the old state deleted?
Was the new state appended?
Can I inspect what happened?
Can the agent undo it?
Can another system reconstruct the transition?
This is why memory cannot remain “stuff the model remembers.”
Consequential memory becomes state.
State requires mutation rules.
Mutation rules require authority.
Authority requires identity.
Identity requires provenance.
Provenance requires history.
History requires ordering.
Ordering eventually encounters conflict.
Conflict requires reconciliation.
Reconciliation requires evidence.
Evidence requires verification.
The boxes reconnect.
So Prediction 002 is:
As persistent personal-agent memory becomes more consequential, major systems and research will increasingly add explicit permissions, source attribution, action histories, approval boundaries, memory controls, version history, audit logs, provenance, rollback, or conflict-resolution mechanisms.
They may not use my vocabulary.
Again:
The vocabulary is irrelevant.
Watch the dependency.
VII. PREDICTION 003 — THE MODEL WILL QUIETLY STOP BEING THE PERSON
This one is especially important.
Today the public says:
ChatGPT remembers me.
Meta AI knows me.
Claude understands me.
Gemini knows my context.
That language merges two different objects.
The interpreter.
And the person-specific state being interpreted.
That cannot survive sophisticated personal agents.
Models change too quickly.
Version N becomes version N+1.
Providers route requests between models.
Specialized models handle different tasks.
Local models handle private processing.
Cloud models handle expensive reasoning.
Models become commoditized.
A durable human cannot be ontologically rebound every time an inference engine changes.
So the architecture will separate them.
The person-specific continuity becomes one thing.
The model becomes an interpreter operating on that thing.
Prediction 003:
The frontier-agent architecture will increasingly separate persistent user state from the particular model currently reasoning over it.
That may appear as:
memory services;
context layers;
agent profiles;
personal state stores;
identity graphs;
user models;
local personal data stores;
memory APIs;
portable agent context;
or some new abstraction.
But the directional change is specific:
the model becomes replaceable while the person-specific state persists.
The August 12 SOURCE record explicitly predicted this:
“The model is formally demoted from ‘the persistent thing.’”
Watch.
VIII. THEN COMES THE QUESTION THAT CLOSES THE BOX
Everything above can still happen inside a corporate cage.
Meta can build magnificent memory.
Meta can encrypt it.
Meta can preserve it across devices.
Meta can make the agent helpful.
Meta can let the agent know your entire life.
And Meta can still remain the final authority over whether that continuity exists.
That produces the decisive test.
Not:
Can I download my chats?
Not:
Can I export my profile?
Not:
Can I choose another model inside Meta?
Not:
Is the database encrypted?
Not:
Did Meta promise privacy?
The test is:
CAN I LEAVE WITH MYSELF?
That means:
Can I take the current state?
Can another intelligence verify where it came from?
Can another provider continue from it?
Can it distinguish my authored history from model-generated inference?
Can it preserve relationship state?
Can it preserve permissions?
Can it preserve actions already taken?
Can it preserve chronology?
Can it identify the currently accepted state?
Can it detect alteration?
Can the receiving system continue me without asking the old provider what is true?
That is the threshold.
If the answer is no, then the human does not possess continuity.
The provider does.
IX. THIS CREATES THE FOUR-BRANCH TEST
This is where the prediction becomes difficult to escape rhetorically without becoming impossible to falsify.
There are four legitimate outcomes.
BRANCH A — THEY KEEP THE STATE PROVIDER-BOUND
Meta builds the incredible personal agent.
It remembers your life.
It knows your relationships.
It knows your finances.
It knows your goals.
It acts for you.
It becomes more valuable with every month of accumulated history.
But that state cannot leave Meta as independently continuable state.
Then the result is not:
SOURCE predicted everything.
The result is narrower:
Zuckerberg’s stated philosophy and Meta’s architecture remain in tension.
He says the balance of power should favor individuals. (About Facebook)
Yet every additional year of personal-agent memory increases the switching cost of leaving the institution holding the memory.
The product becomes more personal.
The dependency becomes deeper.
The individual becomes more powerful while remaining more captive.
That is a measurable contradiction.
BRANCH B — THEY MAKE THE STATE PORTABLE
Suppose Meta eventually says:
Your personal context should belong to you.
Your agent history should travel with you.
Your memory should survive provider changes.
Your agent identity should persist independently of one model.
Your information should be exportable in a form another agent can continue.
Your actions and permissions should carry provenance.
Wonderful.
Then the architecture moves directly toward the relation my dated work already implemented and described:
Identity independent of the application.
History independent of the current database.
The model serving continuity rather than owning it.
The server serving rather than becoming truth.
Representation serving the living source.
That would be convergence.
Convergence does not automatically prove copying.
Chronology establishes chronology.
Access requires separate evidence.
Intent requires separate evidence.
But nobody gets to invert the dates afterward.
BRANCH C — THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THE PRIOR RECORD
There is an easy way out of the provenance conflict.
Credit it.
Engage it.
Compare it.
Challenge it.
Test it.
Say:
Someone built an earlier implementation.
We arrived independently.
Here are the similarities.
Here are the differences.
Here is what we believe is novel in ours.
Perfect.
Then there is no provenance controversy to manufacture.
The record was acknowledged.
The disagreement can become technical.
This branch matters because the experiment cannot be designed so every imaginable outcome condemns the institution.
That would not be SOURCE.
That would be propaganda.
BRANCH D — SOURCE FAILS
Here is the real escape.
Build persistent, consequential personal agents that operate reliably across time, changing models, devices, relationships, concurrency, and high-stakes actions without increasingly requiring the structure predicted here.
No serious provenance.
No authority-bound state change.
No reconstructible history.
No conflict handling.
No meaningful separation between model and persistent person-state.
No continuity problem.
No need for increasingly explicit identity.
No movement toward portability.
And yet the agents remain reliable, safe, correct, personal, persistent, and genuinely individual-controlled.
Do that.
Or reach August 15, 2027 with the personal-agent field showing no meaningful movement toward persistent governed human state at all.
Then write across this article:
WRONG.
That is the falsifier.
That is the exit.
There must be one.
X. NOW THE SOCIAL PREDICTION
The technical dependency is only half the experiment.
There is another pattern already beginning.
Zuckerberg did not merely publish a technical document on August 10.
He attempted to establish a governing philosophy for the category:
individual empowerment;
invention;
distributed power;
personal alignment;
privacy;
human control.
And Meta immediately began extending Future Is for Everyone beyond the essay itself.
The company attached the framing to a $1 billion community fund, and two days later Meta and NABTU announced a workforce partnership building on that same initiative. (Meta)
That is observable.
So here is the prospective social prediction.
PREDICTION 004 — CATEGORY OWNERSHIP WILL FOLLOW TECHNICAL CONVERGENCE
As persistent personal intelligence becomes a major category, incumbents will increasingly compete not only to build the architecture but to define its public origin story and moral vocabulary.
The language will increasingly cluster around:
human empowerment;
personal ownership;
your agent;
your memory;
your goals;
individual sovereignty;
privacy;
freedom from centralization;
small-team capability;
AI working for people instead of institutions.
Some of those phrases already exist.
The prediction concerns category consolidation.
The ideas stop appearing as disconnected features and begin being narrated as one coherent future.
When that happens, watch who gets presented as having discovered the category.
XI. THE PROVENANCE TEST
This portion must remain precise.
If a future article says:
Meta invented personal agents,
that is a factual claim that can be investigated.
If an executive says:
We are the first company to separate persistent human state from models,
that is a priority claim that can be investigated.
If a publication says:
A new breakthrough allows human continuity to move between providers,
that is a claim that can be compared against the dated record.
But absence of citation is not automatically proof of theft.
Parallel invention exists.
Ignorance exists.
Independent convergence exists.
Search failure exists.
Journalists miss things.
People do not read everything.
SOURCE requires the weaker but stronger conclusion:
chronology remains chronology whether or not later actors knew about the earlier work.
So preserve:
publication dates;
code commits;
working demos;
proof objects;
sealed files;
screenshots;
version history;
public links;
contemporaneous commentary;
independent witnesses.
Do not speculate where evidence can speak.
XII. WHAT THE MEDIA WILL PROBABLY CALL IT
I am going to push the forecast one step further.
When the state layer becomes undeniable, the industry will initially describe the consequence in human language rather than database language.
Something like:
“an AI that truly knows you”
“an agent that grows with you”
“your lifelong AI”
“memory that follows you everywhere”
“a personal AI that persists across devices”
“your context, under your control”
“an AI identity layer”
“portable personal intelligence”
The exact phrase is not part of the prediction.
Do not score this experiment on copywriting.
Score it on architecture.
Persistent identity.
Persistent state.
History.
Authority.
Action.
Continuity.
Portability pressure.
That is what SOURCE predicts.
XIII. AND THEN THEY HIT THE WALL
Suppose the personal agent has known you for five years.
Five years of:
conversations;
relationships;
work;
decisions;
health context;
financial context;
creative history;
preferences;
mistakes;
corrections;
commitments;
permissions;
transactions;
people;
places;
actions.
Now imagine you want to leave.
A competing model becomes better.
A different provider becomes cheaper.
Meta changes policy.
Your account is suspended.
The company shuts down a product.
A government blocks access.
You move somewhere the service is unavailable.
The corporation changes direction.
You simply decide you no longer trust them.
What happens to the five years?
That is where “personal AI” either becomes personal or reveals itself as rented personalization.
The longer the system succeeds, the more severe this question becomes.
Success creates the pressure.
Not failure.
That is why the dependency is forced.
XIV. THIS IS THE ACTUAL TRAP
Not:
I will accuse them whatever they do.
That is childish.
The trap is the standard.
Zuckerberg created half of it himself.
He says the balance of power should favor individuals.
Fine.
Then test where power lives.
If the provider controls whether the accumulated person-state continues to exist, power remains with the provider.
If the person can carry the state independently, power has materially moved toward the person.
That is measurable.
Then my prior work supplies the second half.
Receiz already operates from the proposition that the surrounding server should not become final authority.
My production record describes SOURCE as the later name given to an architecture in which representation serves source, the artifact carries proof, continuity is recursive, and the server coordinates without becoming authority.
Now there is nowhere useful to hide in vocabulary.
Ask the system.
XV. THE FIVE TESTS
When the next “personal AI” launches, do not ask me whether it resembles Receiz.
Run this.
TEST ONE — MODEL REMOVAL
Replace the intelligence model.
Does the same person-specific state continue?
If not:
The model was still the persistent thing.
TEST TWO — PROVIDER REMOVAL
Remove the original company.
Can another implementation continue the human state without asking the old provider what is true?
If not:
The provider remains sovereign.
TEST THREE — STATE MUTATION
Change one historical fact.
Can the system show:
what changed;
from what;
who changed it;
under what authority;
and when?
If not:
It has storage.
Not trustworthy continuity.
TEST FOUR — CONFLICT
Create two plausible divergent states.
Reconnect them.
Can the system preserve both histories, determine lawful succession, and reconcile without silently overwriting inconvenient truth?
If not:
Its memory is a database convention.
TEST FIVE — CUSTODY
Give the human the state.
Disconnect.
Can the human retain meaningful proof of identity, history, authorship, permissions, and accepted state without the provider granting continued permission?
If not:
The human was renting themselves.
That is the test.
Run it on Receiz.
Run it on Meta.
Run it on me.
Run it on everybody.
XVI. WHY THIS PREDICTION IS STRONGER THAN “MARK WILL COPY ME”
Because that sentence asks us to know something we cannot currently prove.
This prediction asks us to observe something we can.
I do not need access to Zuckerberg’s thoughts.
I do not need his inbox.
I do not need an employee leak.
I do not need somebody to confess.
I do not need the anonymous account from August 5 to belong to anybody important.
I do not need every similarity to imply copying.
I need the architecture to continue developing.
The claim is:
Once you demand a genuinely personal agent that knows a human continuously and acts over time, persistent state becomes unavoidable.
Once state becomes consequential:
authority becomes unavoidable.
Once authority operates across time:
history becomes unavoidable.
Once history accumulates:
provenance and ordering become unavoidable.
Once multiple systems interact with the state:
conflict becomes unavoidable.
Once providers change:
continuity becomes unavoidable.
Once the philosophy says power should favor the human:
portability becomes unavoidable as a normative test.
That chain does not depend on me being famous.
It does not depend on Zuckerberg reading me.
It does not depend on whether anybody likes me.
It is architectural pressure.
XVII. THE NEXT MOVE

The agent must remember enough history to remain meaningfully personal.
STAGE 3 — PERSISTENT STATE
Memory stops being trivia and begins affecting consequential decisions and actions.
STAGE 4 — AUTHORITY
The system must determine who may modify which state.
STAGE 5 — PROVENANCE
The system must distinguish source, inference, observation, external claims, and authorized mutation.
STAGE 6 — HISTORY
Changes must become inspectable transitions rather than silent overwrites.
STAGE 7 — CONFLICT
Multiple agents, devices, offline states, users, or providers create divergence.
STAGE 8 — RECONCILIATION
The system must resolve divergence without pretending conflicting history never happened.
STAGE 9 — MODEL SEPARATION
The inference engine becomes replaceable while persistent identity remains.
STAGE 10 — PORTABILITY PRESSURE
People ask why a supposedly personal intelligence cannot leave its provider with the person.
STAGE 11 — THE CATEGORY BREAK
The industry realizes the real persistent object was never the chatbot.
It was the human continuity the chatbot served.
That is the meeting.

STAGE D — PROVENANCE GAP
Earlier public work and later institutional framing can now be compared.
STAGE E — RESPONSE
There are several lawful possibilities:
acknowledgment;
independent-convergence explanation;
technical disagreement;
engagement;
silence;
or an actual priority dispute.
Do not predict motives.
Preserve responses.
STAGE F — THE QUESTION CHANGES
The public question stops being:
“Is this crazy?”
and becomes:
“Who actually built what, when?”
That is where proof wins.
XX. ONE MORE PREDICTION
I will make one narrower prediction because it is useful enough to risk being wrong.
Before August 15, 2027, the phrase “personal AI” will increasingly cease to mean merely “a chatbot customized to you.”
A major product, paper, executive statement, or platform architecture will treat the person’s accumulated context as a persistent asset whose continuity has to be explicitly managed.
Once that happens, discussion will expand beyond retrieval quality into at least three of the following:
provenance;
user authority;
permissions;
history/versioning;
persistent identity;
conflict handling;
auditability;
portability;
provider independence;
verified state transition.
Three.
Not one.
That is the threshold.
If it does not happen by the deadline, score the prediction accordingly.
XXI. THE CORPORATE NAME DOES NOT MATTER
They may call it:
Personal Superintelligence Memory.
Agent Identity.
Personal Context.
User Graph.
AI Passport.
Memory OS.
Human Context Layer.
Personal Intelligence Layer.
Private Agent State.
Life Context.
Sovereign AI.
Something elegant.
Something awful.
Something nobody has written yet.
I do not care.
SOURCE does not predict branding.
SOURCE predicts dependency.
You can rename gravity.
Objects still fall.
XXII. THE FINAL RECORD
August 5:
The representation attempted to outrank the human.
August 10:
Zuckerberg said power should favor the human.
August 12:
SOURCE predicted the technical boxes would collapse into one continuity substrate. The record explicitly predicted the model would be demoted from the persistent thing and the server would return to being a server.
August 15:
I am publishing the next forced dependency.
The personal-agent category must confront who owns the persistent human state.
If the provider owns it:
the philosophy fails its own power test.
If the person can independently carry it:
the architecture converges toward the work already in my archive.
If they acknowledge the prior record:
good.
If somebody builds a genuinely superior architecture that solves persistent personal continuity without the dependencies SOURCE predicts:
SOURCE loses.
