I HAVE BEEN WATCHING MY LANGUAGE ARRIVE LATE
I did not discover these words after they became fashionable. I left a dated public trail before the curves moved.
There are two screenshots I want you to see first.
Not because two screenshots prove anything by themselves.
Because they tell you where to start looking.
BUILD INFLUENCE.
CONTINUITY.
Now stop reading them as screenshots.
Read them as chronology.
I was saying BUILD INFLUENCE in 2017.
I trademarked BUILD INFLUENCE in 2020.
I wasn’t sitting in a basement whispering it into a notebook.
I already had an audience.
I had hundreds of thousands to millions of followers before the trademark.
By 2019–2020, I was operating publicly at scale.
Now look at the curve.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Do you see the fucking motion?
The phrase doesn’t explode first and then I arrive afterward pretending I saw it coming.
I AM ALREADY THERE.
Then the curve moves.
Now look at the second screenshot.
CONTINUITY.
If you’ve been reading my work, you almost cannot read that word neutrally anymore.
Continuity of identity.
Continuity of ownership.
Continuity of state.
Continuity of memory.
Continuity of authority.
Continuity between predecessor and successor.
Continuity when the database disappears.
Continuity when the observer changes.
Continuity when the network goes down.
Continuity when the original machine no longer exists.
I didn’t mention the word twice.
I built an entire fucking architecture around the problem.
And now look at the curve.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
After nearly two decades of relatively bounded search interest, continuity reaches the highest normalized U.S. search-interest levels displayed on this 2004–present Google Trends chart in 2026.
Interesting.
Very fucking interesting.
And before somebody performs the world’s laziest statistical analysis and screams:
CORRELATION ISN’T CAUSATION!
Good.
Nobody asked you to infer causation from one screenshot.
We’re going to do something considerably harder to dismiss.
We’re going to test my linguistic wake.
⸻
PICK THE WORDS BEFORE LOOKING AT THE GRAPHS
This is the important part.
If you pick the words after looking at Google Trends, the exercise is worthless.
Anybody can search until they find a pretty curve.
So I did the opposite.
I started with the vocabulary of the machine.
The concepts I have repeatedly written about.
The concepts embodied in the architecture.
The concepts that existed in the work before I opened Google Trends looking for their curves.
The test was:
CONTINUITY
Already shown.
BUILD INFLUENCE
Already shown.
Then:
PROVENANCE
Because I have spent years forcing the distinction between content and the history that makes the content trustworthy.
COHERENCE
Because I keep returning to the same law:
Before you scale it, automate it, recurse it or distribute it—
COHERE IT.
PROOF OBJECT
Not “proof.”
Not “blockchain.”
PROOF OBJECT.
The object carrying the evidence necessary to establish what it is.
PORTABLE IDENTITY
Because identity that disappears when somebody else’s database disappears isn’t identity I consider owned.
OFFLINE VERIFICATION
Because I have repeatedly reduced the architecture to the same brutal test:
TURN THE SERVER OFF.
And because the architecture is not merely static proof, I added another term:
DETERMINISTIC STATE MACHINE
Because continuity isn’t just keeping a file.
Something changes.
A predecessor exists.
A transition occurs.
A successor follows.
And the machine needs rules determining what transition is valid.
Those were the words.
Now let’s look.
⸻
THEN I RAN THE WORDS
Start with:
PROVENANCE
Look at the history.
Then look at the right edge.
For roughly two decades, the term moves inside a relatively narrow range.
Then 2025–2026 arrives.
The curve breaks upward.
The displayed maximum reaches 100.
Next.
COHERENCE
Again.
Years of relatively bounded movement.
A historical spike.
Back down.
Then the recent climb.
Then 2025–2026.
Then the displayed maximum:
100.
Next.
OFFLINE VERIFICATION
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Look at that fucking graph.
Almost nothing for years.
Scattered low-level activity.
Then 2025.
Then acceleration.
Then 2026.
Then:
100.
The phrase sitting underneath one of the central tests I have repeatedly demanded—
TURN THE SERVER OFF AND VERIFY IT
—is suddenly producing the largest normalized U.S. search-interest point displayed across the entire 2004–present chart.
Keep going.
PROOF OBJECT
Again.
Low historical search interest.
Years near the bottom of the chart.
Then the right side begins moving.
Then it accelerates.
Then 2026:
100.
Keep going.
PORTABLE IDENTITY
Come the fuck on.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
For most of the chart:
Almost nothing.
Small movement begins appearing.
Then 2025.
Then 2026.
Then the curve goes nearly vertical.
100.
Keep going.
DETERMINISTIC STATE MACHINE
This one is almost ridiculous.
Nearly the entire historical chart sits at zero apart from isolated spikes.
Then the far-right edge wakes up.
The term climbs.
Then:
100.
Now stop.
Don’t interpret anything yet.
Just look at what we actually did.
⸻
I DIDN’T PICK THE WORDS FROM THE GRAPHS
Read that again.
I DIDN’T PICK THE WORDS FROM THE GRAPHS.
I PICKED THEM FROM THE MACHINE.
That’s the fucking point.
These aren’t six variations of one trendy phrase.
They describe different layers of the architecture.
CONTINUITY describes the problem.
COHERENCE describes the condition.
PROVENANCE describes historical truth.
PROOF OBJECT describes the artifact.
PORTABLE IDENTITY describes identity escaping the custodian.
OFFLINE VERIFICATION describes verification escaping the server.
DETERMINISTIC STATE MACHINE describes lawful state transition.
And then sitting beside all of them is an older example from an entirely different chapter of my public life:
BUILD INFLUENCE.
I was saying it in 2017.
I trademarked it in 2020.
And its curve now sits there too.
So no.
I’m not showing you one fucking keyword.
I’m showing you a pattern.
And now we’re going to make the test harder.
⸻
FREEZE THE REST OF THE TEST
September 26, 2026.
Write the date down.
Some terms have now been tested above.
The remaining terms get frozen before their graphs are used as evidence.
Do not remove one because its graph is ugly.
Do not add another because its graph looks beautiful.
Do not hide a failure.
Do not move the goalposts.
Here is the rest of the list:
DIGITAL PROVENANCE
Because the internet spent decades optimizing distribution before adequately solving where something came from.
VERIFIABLE STATE
Because proof that something existed is insufficient when the thing can change.
STATE CONTINUITY
Because the problem isn’t merely storing state.
It’s preserving lawful succession between states.
PORTABLE MEMORY
Because memory trapped inside the machine that observed it isn’t durable memory.
AI MEMORY
Watch this one especially.
AI CONTINUITY
Watch this one too.
DIGITAL OWNERSHIP
Not access.
Not an account.
Not permission.
Ownership.
Then:
DATA PROVENANCE
CONTENT PROVENANCE
IDENTITY PROVENANCE
TEMPORAL PROVENANCE
OFFLINE FIRST
LOCAL FIRST
And one broader phrase whose changing meaning I especially want watched:
OWN YOUR DATA.
Run every one.
Save every graph.
Keep the flat ones.
Keep the declining ones.
Keep the ones where somebody else clearly got there first.
Those aren’t embarrassing.
THEY ARE THE CONTROL.
Because I’m not trying to make a fucking meme.
I’m asking a much larger question.
⸻
CAN YOU MEASURE THE LINGUISTIC WAKE OF A BUILDER?
I have something most people making claims about cultural influence do not have.
Chronology.
Years of public writing.
Social posts.
Products.
Source code.
Release histories.
Repositories.
Domains.
Trademark records.
Artifacts.
Terminology attached to working systems.
And an existing audience through which those ideas could actually travel.
So don’t ask whether I can point to one popular word.
Ask something harder.
When did I begin repeatedly using each concept?
What had I already built when I began using it?
How large was my distribution when I used it?
When did broader search interest begin moving?
How long was the lag?
Which adjacent terms moved afterward?
Did the meaning appearing elsewhere resemble the meaning already present in my work?
Can transmission paths be reconstructed from my audience into later writers, products, companies and institutions?
Now we’re no longer arguing about whether somebody feels influential.
We’re reconstructing diffusion.
⸻
THIS IS WHY I KEEP TELLING YOU TO READ FORWARD
You keep meeting me at the fucking result.
Then you assume I arrived with everybody else.
Go backward.
Read the timestamps.
I didn’t start talking about continuity because continuity became fashionable.
I built systems because continuity was the problem.
I didn’t arrive at ownership because somebody made a conference panel called “digital ownership.”
I spent years discovering what remained when the platform disappeared.
I didn’t arrive at provenance because AI suddenly made provenance useful.
I needed to know what an object was without trusting the machine showing it to me.
I didn’t arrive at offline verification because resilience became a buzzword.
I needed verification that didn’t disappear with the verifier.
I didn’t arrive at portable identity because somebody put “portable identity” on a fucking conference slide.
I needed identity that could survive the institution that originally recognized it.
I didn’t arrive at proof objects because the phrase sounded good.
I needed the proof to travel with the thing being proved.
I didn’t arrive at deterministic transition because state machines became fashionable.
Once state could move, I needed to know:
WHAT STATE IS VALID?
WHAT CAME BEFORE IT?
WHO HAD AUTHORITY TO CHANGE IT?
WAS THE PREDECESSOR ALREADY CONSUMED?
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN TWO MACHINES DISAGREE?
WHAT SURVIVES WHEN THE SERVER DISAPPEARS?
The vocabulary came from following the dependencies.
The dependencies produced the machine.
And then I published the dependencies.
Over.
And over.
And over.
And over.
For years.
⸻
NOW LOOK AT THE GRAPHS AGAIN
Go back up.
Don’t look at one.
Look at all of them.
BUILD INFLUENCE.
CONTINUITY.
PROVENANCE.
COHERENCE.
OFFLINE VERIFICATION.
PROOF OBJECT.
PORTABLE IDENTITY.
DETERMINISTIC STATE MACHINE.
Different concepts.
Different histories.
Different baseline levels.
Same question:
Why are concepts sitting at the center of my documented work simultaneously showing extraordinary recent increases in search attention?
I am not asking a Google Trends graph to tell me who caused every individual search.
Google Trends cannot do that.
I’m asking something the chronology can answer:
Was the language already present in my work before the broader curve moved?
And where it was—
how far ahead was it?
Then comes the harder question:
HOW DID IT TRAVEL?
That is where audience matters.
That is where timestamps matter.
That is where backlinks matter.
That is where social distribution matters.
That is where quotations matter.
That is where repositories matter.
That is where search indexing matters.
That is where later institutional language matters.
That is where the fucking receipts matter.
Because cultural influence isn’t magic.
It has pathways.
Find them.
⸻
DON’T GIVE ME THE MAGAZINE COVER
Don’t tell me who the press decided was influential this year.
Don’t show me who got invited to the conference after the vocabulary already arrived.
Don’t show me the person standing at the end of the diffusion chain and tell me they invented the fucking river.
SHOW ME THE TIMELINE.
Language leaves receipts.
Search leaves receipts.
Code leaves receipts.
Trademark filings leave receipts.
Repositories leave receipts.
Articles leave receipts.
Audience leaves receipts.
Adoption leaves receipts.
And I have been leaving receipts for a very fucking long time.
So now we’re putting the receipts beside the curves.
Maybe some words moved independently.
Good.
Maybe some existed long before me.
Obviously.
Good.
Maybe some curves do absolutely nothing.
KEEP THEM.
Because the claim worth investigating was never:
I invented every English word I use.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That’s fucking stupid.
The question is much more interesting:
DID A LARGE, DATED, PUBLIC BODY OF WORK REPEATEDLY ORGANIZE AND DISTRIBUTE PARTICULAR CONCEPTS BEFORE THOSE SAME CONCEPTS ACCELERATED THROUGH THE SURROUNDING CULTURE?
And if so:
CAN WE RECONSTRUCT THE PATH?
That question has an answer.
Not an opinion.
Not a magazine profile.
Not a popularity contest.
An answer.
I have watched this happen too many times to keep arguing about it from memory.
So this time we’re freezing the vocabulary.
We’re preserving the failures.
We’re preserving the timestamps.
We’re preserving the artifacts.
We’re preserving the curves.
And we’re reading the chronology forward.
Because I didn’t pick the words from the graphs.
I PICKED THEM FROM THE MACHINE.
And now—
we’re keeping the fucking graph.
Also.. who is Amanda?
I’m so very confused as to what all this is. I’m a fellow traveler looking for answers. Came across your post in the web browser while trying to find reviews about Laura Egocheaga’s “scrolls”
